THE DECKS & GARDEN
Immediately outside the first floor sliding doors, you will find the Sun Deck with its table and chairs and spectacular views over the River, perfect for an al-fresco dinner.
Up the curving steps brings you to the Poop Deck, with another small table and chairs, where better toast the sun setting over Old Mill Creek.
Further steps bring you to a small lawn and another bench to sit on.
They are all perfect places to relax and watch the world float by, look out for varied river wildlife including seals and even the occasional dolphin, wave at the passing steam trains, read a book or simply while away the time.
Right outside QuerQuay Bolthole is a small but rather special beach. It was once an extension of the slipway and from here Montgomery, Eisenhower and Patten launched the historic WW2 Operation Tiger – the rehearsal for the Normandy landings on D-Day.
Today you can jump down at low tide and gather driftwood, flotsam and jetsom, collect shells or fish for mackerel.
It is also a perfect spot to launch kayaks or paddle boards from.
